Boone County Schools unveils searchable K–12 curriculum portal under SB1 consultation

Superintendent Dr. Hauswald told the Boone County Schools Board of Education the district has published a new, searchable K–12 curriculum portal to comply with Senate Bill 1 requirements for curriculum selection and public consultation.
Assistant/Director Jim (presenter name listed as Jim in the meeting) explained the portal consolidates elementary and secondary curriculum into a single, searchable format. "It is now public. This is a new format that we're using for elementary and secondary. Last year, secondary used this format. We decided to really streamline it to be K–12. It is searchable," Jim said.
Staff said the district consulted site-based councils through principals and opened the curriculum for public comment for two weeks in April. Superintendent Dr. Dottweiler and other leaders credited technology and curriculum staff — including Julie and Tracy — for building the searchable format and asked board members to review the materials and raise questions over the coming weeks.
Board members noted community feedback was largely positive and that some parents raised concerns about the amount of technology used in classroom instruction. The superintendent said those concerns were expected and will be addressed through follow-up conversations with parents and staff.
No board vote was required for the curriculum presentation; staff said the portal fulfills the consultation and public-notice obligations under SB1 and will remain available online for review.
