Resident tells Planning Commission he prevailed in lawsuit over neighbor's well use, asks for investigation

During the public comment period July 10, Lake County resident Randy Pledger told the Planning Commission he has an ongoing dispute over water with a neighboring cannabis operation on Butts Canyon Road and asked the commission to note the issue for investigation.
"My problem is water. I am parked next to a cannabis, operation," Pledger said. He stated the neighbor obtained a drilling permit described to him as for domestic use but that he later learned the operation was using a commercial pump system. Pledger said he filed a lawsuit that took about four to four-and-a-half years to settle and that he "prevailed," adding that his information was verified through the court system.
Pledger told the commission his household incurred costs of about $300 per month for water over five years and that he represented himself in court. "It cost me $300 a month for water times 12 months times 5 years," he said.
When commissioners later asked about the complaint during the staff-update portion of the meeting, Director Michelle Turner said staff are already looking into the Butts Canyon Road water issue at the staff level.
The commission did not take formal action on the matter at the July 10 meeting; Turner indicated staff follow-up is underway.
