The Churchill County Planning Commission unanimously approved July 9 a special use permit for a 10-square-foot sign for an existing home business operating as 9/11 Water at 1505 McLean Road.
Dean Patterson, senior planner, said the business did not require a SUP at the time it began operating but that adding a home-business sign triggers the SUP requirement. Notices were sent and staff received one comment noting that signs near the highway are subject to Nevada Department of Transportation authorization; staff recommended a condition requiring coordination with NDOT.
Applicant Crystal Taliaferro and co-applicant Nicholas Taliaferro were present. No public comment was offered at the hearing and the commission approved the application with conditions listed in the staff report. The approval is subject to the usual 10-day appeal period.
