Canton awards cleaning contract for Arch Village and arts facilities to Sabre Building Services

The Canton Township Board of Trustees approved a contract and purchase order to Sabre Building Services to provide cleaning services at Arch Village, the Village Arts Theater warehouse and a factory space. Clerk Kirk Siegrist moved the item and Treasurer Slavens supported the motion; the board approved the contract.
Township facilities staff said the village arts theater warehouse and factory will open later this year and that an internal employee primarily responsible for theater facility services recently retired, prompting staff to evaluate outside contractors. Facilities staff reported they received proposals from 15 companies, completed interviews and selected Sabre Building Services after ranking proposals under a public RFP.
The contract authorizes payments of $41,000 for 2025 and $57,400 for 2026 and included a budget amendment. Trustee Ganguly said she was initially hesitant because of past experience with outside contractors but said she felt better after questions were answered; she requested the board evaluate the contract after six months.
Director Norwood was on hand to answer questions; staff said they are ready to implement the services if approved.
