County emergency services reports CWPP survey results: 329 responses, home hardening and fuels reduction top concerns

Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services (OES) told the Board of Supervisors on July 8 that the county received 329 responses to a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) survey and that respondents expressed strong concern about wildfire safety.
"We were able to receive 329 responses from our community, which I'm very happy with," Eric Holt, an OES representative, said. He said the county's goal had been 350 responses and credited IT staff for helping tabulate results. Holt said survey findings will help shape grant priorities, with "home hardening and fuels reductions being the main concerns."
Holt said the county, supported by a Fire Safe Council county coordinator grant, will continue work on the CWPP and will next survey evacuation routes and alert-warning systems. He told the board the OES will post the survey results on its website and provide updates on the plan's progress.
Board members offered brief thanks for the work; no formal action was taken. OES said a follow-up survey on evacuation and alerting is planned and that additional updates will be provided to the board as work continues.
