Parks committee appoints Adam as new chair

The Woodfin Town Parks and Community Enrichment Committee appointed Adam as its new chair during its July 9 meeting.
Coral, who the committee identified as the outgoing chairperson, said she had served “longer than she is supposed to” and the committee had discussed making a change. Adam volunteered and members moved to appoint him. A voice vote followed and the motion carried with all members present voting aye.
Committee members discussed what the chair’s responsibilities will include: running meetings and occasional consultation with staff on agenda items. Staff said the role typically requires less than an hour a week outside the meeting and that the chair can either work with staff to assemble agendas or have staff prepare them.
Committee members agreed Adam will assume the role going forward and Coral will continue until the transition is complete.
