Select Board approves routine permits, starts recruitment for airport commission vacancy and amends FM Global Way sign agreement

At the July 8 meeting the Select Board approved multiple consent and new‑business items and took several administrative actions.
Consent items: The board approved, in a single motion, several routine permits and matters that were not held for discussion. The items approved by consent included park use permits for the Disabled Veterans Park (two events), a one‑day liquor permit for a charity event at the Elks, a block party request for Valley Road (August 17), the contracts list and cemetery deeds. The motion approving the consent items passed unanimously.
Block Party: A late agenda block party request for Green Witch Road on July 16 (2 p.m.–8 p.m., from house number 204 to 404) was approved with standard conditions: organizers must notify abutters and inform the police and fire departments of date and location. The motion carried unanimously.
Airport Commission vacancy: The board discussed a forthcoming vacancy on the Norwood Airport Commission. The manager recommended the position be posted publicly for one to two weeks, collect letters of interest and return a recommended appointment at the August 12 meeting (the Airport Commission is not meeting in July). The board approved the manager’s recommendation unanimously and asked staff to pursue outreach, including social media notices that have recently increased applicant interest for other boards.
FM Global Way license agreement (signage): The board reviewed a draft license agreement to allow a sign near FM Global Way. Select Board member Mike Plasco asked the town to add a clause making the licensee responsible for removal and removal costs if the town later requires removal; the board approved the agreement with that amendment and authorized staff to finalize the form for signature.
Other: The board filed two memoranda (items 5.1 and 5.2) and approved routine administrative memos. The board also scheduled an executive session later in the meeting (collective bargaining/litigation) by roll call vote.
