Amy Lombardo asked the Town Board to consider a program allowing families to buy and display military banners honoring local veterans. Lombardo said banners would be sold to residents, hung and removed by the town, with the cost of materials paid by purchasers, and that volunteers are ready to help organize the initiative.
Supervisor Brian Nowak said Council members Brian Pularski and Barbara Bukowski serve as liaisons to the town’s veterans committee and can start discussions with the committee about a program. Council members Pularski and Bukowski were identified as the board liaisons and the board indicated willingness to continue the conversation.
Why it matters A banner program is primarily ceremonial but carries modest costs and scheduling responsibilities for parks and public-works operations. The idea will be developed through the veterans committee and follow-up at a future meeting if the committee recommends action.
Next steps Council members Pularski and Bukowski will take Lombardo’s request to the veterans committee and report back to the board.
