Chesapeake Beach council appoints Dan Baden as town treasurer

The Chesapeake Beach Town Council voted at a special meeting to appoint Dan Baden as the town treasurer and administered the oath of office.

Council members gathered for the special meeting — two members, Laura Blackwalder and Anthony Green, were absent — and moved to approve Baden’s appointment. Councilmember Barry made the motion and Councilmember Ken seconded it. The motion passed with the ayes prevailing; the council then swore Baden into office.

The move formalizes a role Baden had been filling for several months. In advance of the vote, a council member said Samilia had shared Baden’s résumé and that his experience “matches up well with what the responsibilities would be as a town treasurer.” After the vote, Baden repeated the oath and affirmed his intention to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Maryland and to perform the duties of the office diligently and without partiality.

Council members praised Baden’s work during the recent budget cycle and expressed confidence in his management of the town’s finances. No formal objections were recorded during the special meeting.

The council adjourned the special meeting and proceeded to an informational work session.
