The Eaton County Planning Commission voted on July 8 to recommend approval of two PA‑116 farmland‑preservation applications submitted by Fort LandMC LLC to the Eaton County Board of Commissioners.
Staff reported the first application is for a parcel in Eaton Rapids Township described in the record as 7.17 acres with 69 acres in cultivation (staff read the application materials as submitted). The applicant stated the parcel meets program eligibility requirements (parcel greater than 40 acres and at least 51 percent in agricultural use) and asked for the PA‑116 agreement to run for 25 years.
The second application is for a parcel in Bellevue Township of 81.96 acres with 77 acres in cultivation; staff said the applicant requested a 25‑year agreement and would correct the application where necessary prior to submission to the Eaton County Clerk for state filing. Staff recommended approval and noted both parcels are zoned limited agricultural and designated for agricultural preservation in the county master plan.
Commissioners moved and supported a motion to recommend the two PA‑116 applications to the Eaton County Board of Commissioners; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote. The recommendations will be forwarded to the county clerk and then to the state as required for enrollment in the PA‑116 Farmland and Open Space Preservation program.
