Staff presented a recommendation that the Board of Education approve an agreement with demographer John Caserta to produce an enrollment (demographic) study at a cost of $19,400; the item will go to action at the next full board meeting.
The staff member explained the purpose of a demographic study is to analyze enrollment, births and movement into and out of the district and said such studies are typically done every five to seven years. The staff member told the committee the district had reached out to three demographers, including Charles Coughran, John Caserta and RSP, and received two formal proposals: Caserta at $19,400 and RSP at $23,500.
When a board member asked when the last study was done, the staff member replied it had been at least 15 years since the district last completed a demographic study. The staff member said the district recommends approving Caserta's proposal and will bring the agreement to the next Board of Education meeting for formal action.
No final procurement vote was held at this committee meeting; the recommendation was presented for the full board to consider.
