Aurora East USD 131 finance committee previews FY26 budget timeline; reviews May financials and small donation

The Aurora East USD 131 Finance and Personnel Committee on an evening meeting reviewed the district's May 2025 financial statements and payroll report, accepted notice of a small donation to Simmons School and presented a timeline for the FY26 tentative budget process.

A staff member leading the meeting reported a donation from AwaikoWare Inc. of $110.98 for athletic supplies to Simmons School and said the finalized financials for June will be presented at the next finance committee meeting.

The committee reviewed a timeline for the FY26 budgeting process. The timeline shown to the committee includes an initial review of the FY26 tentative budget on 07/07, a later July entry described in the timeline as "20 eighth" for a budget presentation and a resolution to adopt the FY26 tentative budget, and additional steps in August and September. The staff presentation said the budget will be prepared in the state format described in the packet as the "50 36 ISB format," that updates from the state (including evidence-based funding) are expected in August, and that the district will place the tentative budget on public display starting with the Aug. 4 presentation for at least 30 days, followed by a public hearing and formal approval planned for Sept. 15.

Committee members asked whether the calendar would require an extra board meeting; a staff member said the current timeline provides sufficient time so a special meeting likely will not be required but noted the levy calendar later in the year still needs review.

The meeting also included routine informational items and closed with no formal votes recorded on the budget timeline at this session.
