Mendocino County's human resources director updated supervisors July 8 on the voluntary separation incentive plan, reporting 20 employees have submitted resignations after the seven-day revocation period concluded and eight employees declined during the waiting period.
Sherry Johnson, director of human resources, told the board the current tally represents an estimated annual savings of approximately $2,100,000 across all funds, with about $571,000 of that in the general fund. Johnson said the numbers are preliminary and that savings are not all general-fund reductions.
Why it matters: The voluntary separation program is intended to reduce payroll costs while allowing departments to adjust staffing. Supervisors heard the preliminary numbers and asked no substantive questions at the July 8 meeting.
Ending: Human resources will continue administering the program and report back as vacancies are processed and departments identify staffing and service-impact needs.
