Cochise County Library District adopts $3.33 million FY2025-26 budget

The Cochise County Library District Board of Supervisors approved a final budget of $3,325,599 for fiscal year 2025-26 at a regular hearing, voting 3-0 to adopt the plan and hold the district tax rate flat.
Library staff presented the budget as unchanged from the tentative plan. “This is the library district budget for FY 26. As approved in the tentative budget, there have been no changes. This is with the calculation of holding the tax rate flat,” Miss Gilman, a library district staff member, said during the public hearing.
The board closed the public hearing before taking the vote. A motion to adopt the final budget was moved and seconded; the board recorded unanimous support with three ayes and no nays. The board also approved two consent-agenda items earlier in the meeting.
The board said the tax rate was being held flat, but because assessed property values increased, state law required a truth-in-taxation hearing to receive public comment on any proposed increase in the primary property tax levy. The board later scheduled that hearing (see related article).
The meeting closed with a note that the next session on the agenda was the Cochise County Flood Control District meeting.
