City to review electrical upgrade design, state-funded facility assessment under way

Glens Falls City staff told the Water and Sewer Board that a review of electrical-upgrade drawings and specifications should be completed by late July and that the city is resubmitting an updated engineering report to the Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC).
A staff member said internal review was expected to be done in time for a submittal around July 24 and that the city will then prepare comments and decide whether to put the work out to bid or seek additional funding. The city is resubmitting an engineering report after EFC requested updates tied to the electrical-upgrade scope.
Separately, the state selected an engineering firm to perform a facility assessment; project kickoff meetings took place with city staff and the consultant. Staff said the assessment could help score future EFC applications and provide technical recommendations.
The board also received a brief construction update: the Bacon Street sewer line replacement was completed and a water-main leak discovered nearby was repaired quickly; paving of the excavation remained to be confirmed.
Why it matters: the electrical upgrade and the state facility assessment are part of an effort to modernize the wastewater facility, secure funding and prioritize capital work.
