Commission approves submission of GOEO grant expense letter for cooperative cultural center

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously July 3 to approve a letter documenting grant expenditures for a Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) award supporting the cooperative cultural center.
Malia, acting as project manager, said the grant totals $445,000 and that most expenses to date are for architecture. "This is our $445,000 governor's office of economic opportunity. This is our grant that is for the cooperative cultural center," she said. She told the commission that a recent $17,000 invoice will be added to the grant report and that she is pursuing a reallocation so the town can obligate funds and spend them by the end of the grant year.
Commissioner Marsha Haydenfeld moved to approve sending the letter documenting expended funds; Gary Hawes seconded the motion. The commission approved the motion unanimously. Chair Amanda Podmore said she would sign the letter and send a PDF to staff.
Why it matters: approving the expenditure letter is a required administrative step in the GOEO grant reporting process. Staff said they expect the grant representative to approve reallocations discussed and that the town needs to finalize spending before the grant year ends.
