Board approves reduced county grant for Fallon Junior Rodeo

The Board approved a partial grant to support the Fallon Junior Rodeo after hearing from contestants and organizers about the event’s local economic and community value.
Chris Pross (county staff) presented the application and eligibility review. Rodeo contestants addressed the board: “Our rodeo typically brings more than 200 contestants and their families to Fallon for the 3 day event,” rodeo queen Miley Macedo told commissioners, and contestant Eva Brown said the event “has been a staple in our community since before my mom was a kid.”
Pross explained that the community-support miscellaneous grants line was reduced by 56.4% for FY2025–26, and applying that reduction to the requested $3,000 resulted in $1,307.49 available under current line-item funding. A motion to approve funding in the amount of $1,307.49 carried.
Commissioners invited the community to attend the rodeo on Labor Day weekend, including a queen contest Friday evening and rodeo performances the following two days.
