The Grants Pass Urban Renewal Agency approved a resolution on July 2 awarding Ausland Holdings (735 SE Sixth St. LLC) a building rehabilitation and restoration grant of up to $44,973, equal to 25% of qualifying private project costs, to support interior and life-safety upgrades as part of a multi-phase redevelopment.
Dana Pierce, economic development staff, told the board the project (also called the Riverway) includes storefront and door replacement, a new staircase, an elevator lift, second-story egress and ADA bathroom upgrades to prepare space for a gym and a food-service tenant. Total qualifying project costs were listed at $179,890; the requested grant amount is 25% of that total capped at $44,973. Staff said the project meets Urban Renewal Agency objectives for redevelopment and removal of underused or blighted properties in the urban-renewal area. The applicant expects occupancy by September.
Councilors moved to approve the resolution; the vote was unanimous. Staff said funds will come from the FY26 URA budget, which has $250,000 appropriated for grant opportunities.
