The Jackson City Council unanimously approved a budget amendment to recognize $50,000 in insurance recovery funds and appropriate the amount for the purchase of a police patrol vehicle.
At the meeting the amendment was presented as a proposed recognition of recovered insurance proceeds and a corresponding appropriation for a patrol vehicle. The motion was moved and seconded and, after a brief call for discussion, the council voted 8-0 to pass the amendment.
Finance staff had previously described insurance recoveries as an ordinary path to replace vehicles that are taken out of service after crashes; the approved amendment will authorize purchase and outfitting of a replacement patrol vehicle with the recognized funds.
The council's unanimous vote means the city can proceed to purchase and outfit the vehicle; staff will process the purchase consistent with city procurement rules and return any required amendments or receipts to council as part of routine reporting.
