Staff said the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) endorses the product and that KLC’s endorsement produces insurance-scorecard benefits for departments that use the tool.
Lieutenant Colonel Boles and Major Jeff Glitz described how the new simulator can use a larger training room footprint, provide a surround experience, and allow branching scenarios that respond to an officer’s actions. "It provides for officer safety recognizing stances, recognizing changes in tone, changes in demeanor," one presenter said, describing how branched immersive scenarios can add realism to training.
Staff also reported a $15,000 trade‑in allowance for the existing system. Commissioners praised the city’s new joint training facility at Station 8 (Porter Pike) and said in‑house simulation capability would improve recruitment and in‑service training.
The item was approved unanimously on roll-call vote.
