Engineering and planning report: multiple projects underway; Northwest Regional Pond grant approved at state level

Engineering and community development staff told the Dickinson City Commission on July 1 that the 2025 construction season will be active with multiple water, sewer and street projects underway or in design.
Director of Engineering and Community Development presented metrics showing 20 planning applications year‑to‑date, multiple plats, zoning map and text amendments and a steady pipeline of permits. The 2025 water main replacement projects and another street project (Ninth Street to Second Street) are scheduled to begin next week. Staff said property owner notifications are underway and that contractors for concrete replacement work are slightly behind schedule because of rain but are regaining pace.
Notable among design projects, staff reported that the city’s funding request for the Northwest Regional Pond was approved at the State Water Commission meeting on June 12; staff said both the task order and grant approval are expected on the July 15 commission agenda. Staff also said they are finalizing a sanitary sewer manhole repair project and may allow construction to carry into 2026 to improve bidding results.
Planner and GIS staff continue to update online mapping resources to reflect near real‑time utility and permit data. Commissioners were reminded the next construction season (2026) is expected to be busier still as work in the right‑of‑way ramps up.
