Parents and volunteers thank district for return of all-night graduation party; donors recognized

A volunteer committee reported to the board that it raised more than $80,000 to restore an all-night graduation party to its original late-night format and that more than 300 graduating seniors attended. Stacy McCleary, speaking on behalf of committee members Casey Capen and Noreen Baisley, described activities provided at the event including games, inflatables, caricature artists, giveaways and prizes; the committee said each senior left with at least $50 in giveaways and many won larger prizes such as iPads and Apple Watches.
Committee members also reported on a first-ever "Senior Walk the Halls" event, saying about 250 seniors visited elementary and middle schools in caps and gowns. McCleary thanked administrators, custodial and security staff, guidance staff, and district leadership, and named several district employees by name for their support. The board and district leaders publicly thanked the committee and volunteers for organizing the events.
In the regular-session reports the board also recorded donations: a $100 donation from Sydney Skaggs to the Kim Schueller Scholarship Fund and a $20,000 donation from the estate of Harley Schuler to the same memorial scholarship fund; additional STEM grant donations from Orange and Rockland Utilities and an in-kind donation (a snare drum) to the high school music department were also acknowledged.
