The Parker City Council appointed Frank DeCosta to a voting seat (Place 2) and Sarah Sharp to another voting seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission at its July 1 meeting.
Council discussed current vacancies and noted several alternates and a resignation in the commission’s membership. The motion to appoint DeCosta and to place Sharp into a voting position was made and seconded; council recorded the motion as carrying with four ayes and one recusal. Council Member Darryl Sharp recused himself from the vote because of a family relationship with Sarah Sharp.
Councilors and the commission chair described DeCosta as willing to continue serving and noted that Parks & Rec is permitted to create subcommittees and take on outreach and improvements for parks and events. Council encouraged residents to apply for remaining alternate positions; staff said openings would be posted on the city website and announced in social media and the city news feed.
The appointments fill immediate vacancies on the commission; staff will update rosters and post openings for additional alternate seats.
