Grand Prairie breaks ground on Topgolf as entertainment district grows

Mayor Ron Jensen and City Manager Bill Hill said on the 2025 State of the City program that Grand Prairie has broken ground on a new Topgolf facility just south of IKEA as part of a wider push to expand the city's entertainment district.
The announcement builds on recent openings and projects in the city's entertainment corridor, officials said. Jensen noted the city recently opened Andretti's and has venues such as Bass Pro, Chicken N Pickle and Main Event nearby. “Getting to announce and break ground for Topgolf,” Jensen said on the program.
Bill Hill, Grand Prairie's city manager, gave the location in more detail: “The new Topgolf is gonna be just south of Ikea, and Ikea being the first that came in that in that big hustle and bustle of Grand Prairie beginning to expand and grow, they were the first ones that took the chance on us. And Topgolf will be immediately south of that, sort of angularly behind where Bass Pro is now.”
Hill framed the expansion as part of an economic and tourism strategy. “But 1 thing we are definitely being is we want to be 1 of the number 1 fun destinations in The United States. And we want to be in the top 5 for fun, and we're going to do it,” Hill said.
Officials also cited other attractions that feed the entertainment district, including Epic Waters, Texas Trust CU Theatre and recent Major League Cricket events at the former baseball stadium in Lone Star Park, which they said drew thousands of visitors from across the Dallas'Fort Worth area.
Officials did not provide a construction timeline or job estimates for Topgolf on the program. Additional project details, financing and opening dates were not specified.
