Stars and Guitars: Council members thanked volunteers and attendees for the recent Stars & Guitars event, which featured a Diamond Rio performance and a fireworks display. Staff said next year’s event will move to the new Heroes Park and will coincide with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Northern Gateway resort hotel: Council provided a preliminary update on a proposed Northern Gateway resort hotel. Council members said Mayor Linda Moot and others hosted a site visit with the developer and their team to the city‑owned Northern Gateway property; the development group toured the terrain and staff described the project as in early stages. The council previously approved a letter of interest with the developer and council members said a purchase‑sale agreement is forthcoming.
Gift card programs and Colleyopoly: The city mailed a $35 Colleyville gift card to each household for use at participating local restaurants and retailers; residents who did not receive a card were asked to contact a city number provided at the meeting. The city is also partnering with the Ministerial Alliance to distribute $50 "Colleyville Cares" gift cards to houses of worship for families needing assistance. The city also announced “Colleyopoly,” a local shopping promotion beginning July 7 with prize incentives tied to receipts turned in starting July 14.
Drinking water quality report: Staff said the city’s 2024 drinking water quality report is available online and by contacting public works; the report summarizes EPA‑required testing for regulated and unregulated contaminants.
Library makerspace: Library Director Jack Pawlowski presented a project to convert the area formerly used for DVDs and audiobooks into a makerspace. Staff said construction is slated for completion later this fall and the equipment budget is a $36,000 one‑time cost funded from the current budget. Planned equipment includes 3‑D printers, laser engravers, heavy‑duty sewing machines, a heat press, laminators and a cutting press. Staff said a grand opening and dedication are planned for later this year.
