Le Mars city administration presented documentation for a voluntary annexation petition covering 37.55 acres of land south of the current city limits, owned by Dogwood Hawk Properties LLC. The council voted to set a public hearing for 12:00 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025.
Staff said a consultation meeting with the Plymouth County supervisors is scheduled for July 2, 2025, and that notices required by statute will be sent to affected utilities, the Plymouth County supervisors, the county attorney and each adjoining property owner. Administration recommended the council proceed to a public hearing.
Council approved the motion to set the hearing by voice vote. The public hearing will allow adjoining property owners and affected utilities to comment before the council considers annexation ordinances or resolutions.
