Onslow County Museum opens interactive exhibit on local plants and animals

Emily Baker, the exhibit creator at the Onslow County Museum, described a new interactive display highlighting plants and animals native to Onslow County and invited families to visit during summer hours.
"Inspiration is where we live — right here in Onslow County," Baker said, describing displays that include the state bird (cardinal), salamanders and other local species. She said the gallery is designed for hands-on interaction with sounds and toys for children.
The museum is open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The museum participates in the Blue Star Museums program and offers free admission to military families who present ID. A family summer pass is offered for $15; regular admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children ages 3–18.
Baker said the museum posts information on its Facebook page and website and encouraged visitors to come play and learn without the discomfort of outdoor heat.
