Mackenzie (BRA staff) said the 307 Martin Luther King Jr. Street applicant — previously approved — required an additional Phase II assessment based on Phase I results; the additional cost would increase the award to about $23,000. A new application for 1554 Kalamazoo Street is aimed at converting a site to a restaurant takeout operation, creating an estimated three new jobs; the scope could include Phase I and Phase II work plus due care planning.
Staff reported roughly $24,000 remained in the ESA grant fund for the fiscal year and that both projects have progressed from option or purchase agreements to purchase agreements in recent weeks. Board members thanked staff for program deployment and asked about land control; Mackenzie confirmed 1554 Kalamazoo has a purchase agreement and 307 has moved from an option to purchase. The board approved the ESA activity report by voice vote.
