Lakeville Library Board of Trustees on June 25 voted to adopt an updated volunteer policy, contract for exterior cleaning and several small administrative reimbursements and procedural items.
The board approved a revised volunteer policy that removes a proposed waiver and retains a requirement for a CORI check and a volunteer application. Trustees also voted to hire Baystate Softwash to perform an exterior soft‑wash of the building ahead of the library’s anniversary reception on July 14. Finally, trustees approved a $60 reimbursement to trustee Nancy Lafay for plant supplies and waived the reading of the May 28 minutes.
The measures were presented during routine business and passed by voice vote. Library Director Jennifer Jones summarized the volunteer policy changes and explained that town hall had no current requirement for a separate liability waiver; the board removed the waiver language from the draft and left the CORI/application requirement in place. The board voted to adopt the policy as revised.
Trustees solicited three quotes for exterior cleaning. Jones said she had asked bidders to exclude roof work because the roof is scheduled for replacement under FY ’26 capital repairs. After discussion about price and methods, Jones moved to accept the Baystate Softwash quote; a trustee seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. Jones said the work is expected to be done before the July 14 anniversary reception.
The board also approved reimbursement of $60 to trustee Nancy Lafay for supplies to replant barrels and floral displays at the library entrance and gazebo. The reimbursement was moved and approved by voice vote.
