Developer withdraws 90 School Street proposal; plans to return with smaller building

The applicant for 90 School Street asked the Quincy Planning Board on June 25 to withdraw its pending site plan application “without prejudice,” saying the team will submit a revised proposal with fewer units and larger yard setbacks.
Attorney Harrington told the board the project team had concluded “this particular building…does not have the support of this board” and requested the formal withdrawal so they can submit a new set of plans. He said the revised submission will reduce the unit count and increase yard setbacks to address outstanding concerns.
The board discussed regulatory and site items the applicant should address before returning, including MBTA permitting for properties in MBTA influence areas and concerns about the front setback and an existing telephone pole. Planning board member PJ Foley urged the applicant to secure any MBTA approvals before the next appearance.
Planning board members voted unanimously to accept the withdrawal without prejudice, clearing the docket for the applicant to file a revised set of plans. No formal approvals were given for the current design; the withdrawal preserves the applicant’s ability to reapply.
The withdrawal notice, read into the record, said the applicant plans to reduce the unit count and make further revisions to the site plan to “address areas of outstanding concern.”
