Elisa Sparkman, communications specialist for the Regional Housing Council, told members the second issue of the Thurston Regional Housing newsletter will be distributed next week and thanked participants for contributing.
Sparkman also reported the RHC has joined the Black Home Initiative (BHI) as a partner. She said she attended a BHI communicators meeting and received a packet of partner engagement guidance. Sparkman said she is working through the packet to identify how the RHC can participate and coordinate with BHI priorities to help close racial wealth gaps through home ownership.
Why it matters: communications materials shape public understanding of council initiatives, and partnership with BHI signals a regional commitment to strategies addressing racial disparities in home ownership. Staff said they will continue to engage with BHI and incorporate partner guidance into outreach.
No formal action was taken; the item was an informational update.
