Maple Court work expected to finish by mid-August; about 40 rooms currently unoccupied, staff say

City and county representatives updated the Regional Housing Council on ongoing construction and occupancy at Maple Court.
Ryan Andrews, planning manager for the city of Lacey, said the building has been under heavy construction for several months to address severe rot and deterioration and water-damage issues. Andrews said the contractor anticipates completion in early to mid-August, after which the city expects to open available rooms for intake. Andrews said coordination is underway to manage future intakes through the coordinated-entry system.
County staff and city representatives said there are roughly 80 residents currently associated with Maple Court and about 40 rooms unoccupied due to construction and relocation while repairs are underway; the site historically housed as many as about 118 residents at peak occupancy. Staff said most moves during the repair period have been relocations to accommodate construction or voluntary moves to permanent housing rather than formal program exits related to code-of-conduct enforcement.
Why it matters: the repair work affects immediate shelter capacity in the county. Staff said they are tracking exits and returns and that permanent-housing exits have been limited while construction continues.
No formal action was taken; staff asked the RHC to note the status and said they will continue to share updated occupancy and exit data when available.
