The Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks (KDWP) commission on July 16 approved a set of fisheries regulation changes by roll call and agreed by motion to send a duck-zone boundary change to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for its review.
The most consequential recorded vote was on fisheries rules covering trout season dates, creel and size limits and other fisheries housekeeping. The commission held a public hearing and then voted to adopt the changes; the roll call recorded a 7-to-0 vote in favor. Chairman Justin Damron announced the roll call result: “Yes. 7 to 0,” recording unanimous approval.
Commissioners also approved, by a separate motion and consensus, a proposed adjustment to a duck-zone boundary near new Highway 1496 in the Sterling area; staff said the change would not take effect until the 2026 waterfowl…
