Council committee tables proposed increase to vehicle-immobilization device-removal fees for a month

A private parking-enforcement contractor requested that the city amend the vehicle-immobilization ordinance to increase device-removal fees for commercial motor vehicles to reflect inflation since the ordinance’s 2018 enactment.
Tammy Parker, speaking for Buckhead Parking Enforcement, said the firm requested updating the city’s device-removal fees using a 32.24% cumulative inflation factor from April 11, 2018, to April 2025. The speaker recited proposed new fees by applying that inflation rate to the current removal-fee brackets and said the adjustment was needed to maintain operations in Marietta. The written request accompanying the comment was signed by John Page.
Committee staff said they had not completed a full review across departments and recommended additional staff study. The committee voted to table the matter for one month so staff could evaluate cross-departmental impacts and next steps; the motion to table carried on a 3–0 vote.
Staff told the committee the department will use the month to analyze the request, including interdepartmental input, and return with a recommendation.
