Lincoln County appoints Rob Steffka to Nebraska International Port of the Plains Authority; oath taken at meeting

Commissioners reviewed three applicants for a vacancy on the Nebraska International Port of the Plains Authority board, and Commissioners who screened the candidates reported they followed the same scoring process used for the original board appointments.

Two commissioners who served on the screening committee recommended Rob Steffka as the best candidate for the current needs of the inland-port board, citing his background and the board’s immediate priorities. The commissioners presented a tally sheet and announced that Rob Steffka was selected to fill the vacancy. At the board’s request Steffka was sworn in during the meeting; he repeated the oath of office and signed required documents.

Commissioners suggested the other applicants had strong qualifications and encouraged them to apply for future openings. No formal vote opposing the appointment was recorded; the chair and commissioners completed the appointment and the newly sworn member received the first of the standard onboarding documents.
