Vision Zero action plan moving toward council consideration; staff to present to community
Summary

Planning staff updated the commission on a Vision Zero action plan that complements the city’s TOD work. Staff said the plan was presented to the commission and to council as a draft and that the plan will be used as the basis for a funding application.
Jerome Skrinkowski explained staff provided a recommendation to council on May 27 and that the plan was presented to council. He said the plan is scheduled for council adoption later this month and that a community meeting will be held as part of that outreach so residents can review the draft before council action.
Why it matters: a Vision Zero action plan frames pedestrian and road safety priorities and can be prerequisite material for grant applications and design work in corridors targeted by TOD.
Next steps: staff will present the draft at a community meeting and then advance it to city council for consideration. No formal action was taken by the planning commission at the workshop.
