The OASIS Charter School Board formally recognized Dr. Manaea at its June 24 meeting, thanking him for his years of service and presenting a plaque.
Members praised Dr. Manaea for leadership through major events including the COVID-19 pandemic, several hurricanes and fiscal challenges. Multiple board members described his attention to strategy, community ties and contributions to local initiatives such as the Horizon Council and Horizon Foundation. Dr. Manaea spoke briefly about the importance of the board's future work—particularly planning for Cape Coral’s growth and sustaining the system’s reputation—and noted that board-term length and onboarding remain areas the board may revisit.
No formal votes were associated with the recognition. The presentation included board remarks thanking Dr. Manaea for "calm confidence," "generosity of time" and service that the board said helped sustain the system’s academic performance and culture. Board members said they expect to consult Dr. Manaea in the future even after his departure.
