The Wausau Common Council approved three noncontroversial items on June 24.
A public-health and safety resolution approving a contract for regional hazardous materials response team services with the State of Wisconsin (file 95-0817) passed 11–0 after a brief committee recommendation. The council then suspended its rules by two-thirds to move an amended parks resolution forward and approved a temporary lease of the River Life Park concession building to Fozone LLC (file 25-0414) for seasonal quick-serve ice cream and similar concession operations; the parks director said Fozone had the most in-depth proposal and "may be able to move in as early as next week." Finally, council voted 11–0 to suspend rules that required a two-thirds vote for referral of resolutions and related filing rules to allow the packet amendments to proceed.
Votes at a glance: regional hazardous materials contract (95-0817) — approved 11–0; suspension of rules (rule 6b/12a) — approved 11–0; temporary lease to Fozone LLC (25-0414) — approved 11–0.
Ending: Parks staff and the city attorney will finalize lease and operating details with Fozone LLC under the normal contracting process.
