The Plymouth‑Canton Community Schools Board of Education adopted its consent agenda and approved multiple personnel and policy items during its regular meeting, President Lauren Christiansen said. The motion to adopt the agenda and approve the consent agenda (action item 25‑06‑83) passed by voice vote, 7‑0.
The consent agenda, presented by Superintendent Monica Merritt, included human resources transactions such as recalls and leaves of absence, the approval of minutes for earlier June meetings, and final readings of two policies — Policy 7310 (distribution of surplus property) and Policy 7450 (property inventory). Merritt also told the board she would discuss the tenure process later in the meeting.
Merritt and Human Resources staff reported that the district recalled several employees previously laid off; the transcript named one recalled employee, Brianna Kalinski, and referenced an additional recalled staff member whose name was not clear in the meeting record. Merritt also noted that 68 teachers in the district achieved tenure status this year.
The consent agenda also included three tentative agreements with employee groups that had already been ratified by their memberships: the Plymouth‑Canton Cafeteria Association, the Plymouth‑Canton Paraprofessional Association and the Plymouth‑Canton Extended Day Association. Merritt expressed the district’s appreciation to the unions for reaching negotiated agreements.
Board Treasurer Patrick Keough moved to adopt the agenda and approve the consent agenda; Secretary Judy Westra seconded. President Christiansen called for the vote and announced the motion carried 7‑0.
The board did not take additional separate votes on individual items in the consent agenda during the public meeting; those items were approved as a package.
Looking ahead, Merritt flagged that the board would discuss the tenure process and additional personnel details in a later portion of the agenda.
The board proceeded to the next items on the agenda following the consent vote.
