The Budget and Finance Committee awarded the contract for removal and disposal of derelict vessels in Bayou Grande Cayo (ID A-0120) and authorized the parish president or his designee to execute the contract.
Staff estimated the initial funding will allow removal of about 14 vessels and indicated crews should begin within about a month. Committee members said public notice and prior advertising led some owners to claim vessels, which stretched available funds further.
The motion was moved by Danny Babin and seconded by John Amadee; committee members recorded the motion as passed. Staff did not provide a detailed cost breakdown in the committee remarks. The contract award includes authority to proceed with removal and disposal and to handle related administrative matters.
