MSU Extension presents annual district report; county partners encouraged to tap services

Kelly highlighted long‑running agricultural services, 4‑H youth programming, soil testing (141 kits sold through the county office), financial‑literacy education, and outreach to veterans and seniors. He said 544 programs were attended by Ottawa County residents during the reporting period, with approximately 95 programs offered on site in the county and 680 participants in county agricultural programs.
Kelly noted partnerships with university researchers and local growers, and he described MSU Extension services that support small‑business product development (the Product Center), beekeeping and tree‑fruit growers. He said MSU Extension has 43 formal coalitions and partnerships in the county and region and that staff serve multiple counties from the local office.
Kelly announced that Kai Gritter has been named the next district director and will introduce herself to county leaders next month. Kelly encouraged the board to refer community needs and to follow MSU Extension District 7 communications for program updates.
