Seneca County water and sewer committee members announced on June 24 that the Keuka Lake Sewer District received a $5,600,000 award from New York State's Water Quality Improvement Program (WQIP).
Committee members said they received notice from the state Department of Environmental Conservation late Friday, and they credited Lori Fox of MRB Group for grant writing and application support. The committee chair said the grant covers work for the Keuka Lake Sewer District and thanked staff and consultants for their assistance.
The committee also approved contract amendments presented in a prior meeting; those amendments had been deferred because contract paperwork was not ready for the previous county board meeting.
Committee members noted that separate applications for other sewer districts were required, and the chair said county staff had applied for a distinct award on behalf of Fayette (another local district) but that applications must be submitted separately by each district. There were no detailed project descriptions or implementation timelines discussed in committee; staff said more information will be provided as project development proceeds.
