Board members also voted to table two change-order proposals related to the Bath County High School HVAC/roofing work (PR 34 and PR 37) to allow staff to negotiate lower pricing. PR 37 — described in the working session as masonry/brick weep repairs and related sealant work on the gym back wall — had an initial quote around $14,005.69. PR 34, a more extensive set of repairs tied to a long‑running kitchen/roof leak, was quoted at $76,002.77. The board moved to table PR 34 (motion by Barbara, second by Carla) and PR 37 (motion by Barbara, second by Carla); both motions carried on voice votes.
In the working session, district project staff reported the high‑school layback project was about 95% complete, with gym painting, epoxy flooring for locker rooms, and final HVAC/electrical balancing remaining. Staff said final inspections and an occupancy approval from Frankfort are pending; they estimated inspections likely the week after next but said some timelines depend on the HVAC contractor schedule.
Staff also briefed the board on funding and project closeout sequencing for LAVEC pavement costs: before paying those LAVEC charges the district must close out the high‑school BG-4 and BG-5 documents and reallocate funds via a revised BG-1 for LAVEC. Staff projected those administrative closings would likely occur in August after final high‑school pay applications are processed in July.
The board approved the site survey and took no final action on the two change orders; staff said they will continue negotiating and return with revised pricing.
