Hartford council approves consent items, refers $5.85 million in state grants to planning committee

On the supplemental agenda the council voted to refer three items to the Planning, Economic Development and Housing Committee: (1) a resolution to accept $1,600,000 in Community Investment Fund grants from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development; (2) a resolution to accept a $250,000 Community Investment Fund planning grant from DECD; and (3) a resolution to accept $4,000,000 from DECD for demolition and abatement of 150 Windsor Street (identified in the meeting as the Windsor Street data center). Those three supplemental grant resolutions were referred to committee for further review.
Council members also moved to receive several committee communications and reports (including the City Hall master plan presentation; see separate item below) and to postpone an ordinance (Item 5.1) amending chapter 31, article 3, sections 31-87 and 31-95 of the municipal code regarding post-construction obligations for utilities and repaving; that ordinance was postponed to July 14, 2025.
