Reach Out Morongo Basin gave a presentation to the Twentynine Palms City Council summarizing the nonprofit’s 2024 services and senior center operations, telling council members the organization provided direct assistance to more than 1,000 clients and supported thousands of walk‑in and referral contacts.
In 2024 the organization reported serving 1,026 clients with services including homemaker and chore assistance, family caregiving support and transportation. The group said its senior center is open five days per week and hosted about 257 days of programming last year, averaging 50–70 visitors per day; staff also reported assisting approximately 4,250 walk‑ins and phone contacts with referrals to food, utility and rental assistance programs.
Reach Out staff described monthly distributions of roughly 240 boxes of commodities and produce for seniors and said they deliver about 90 boxes per month to shut‑in seniors in nearby unincorporated areas. The organization also described respite and day‑care style activities, transportation to medical appointments and partnership work with the city to operate a regional cooling center during heat events.
Council members thanked Reach Out for the service, noting the organization’s role in emergency response and daily support for seniors; the council recognized the group’s role providing meals, transportation and social programming that help residents age in place.
Ending: Council members and staff thanked the presenter and said they would continue to coordinate with Reach Out on senior services and emergency response efforts.
