Council authorizes Lincoln Park cadet to attend Wayne County Regional Police Academy

The council authorized the police department to send cadet Chadrick Stanfield to the Wayne County Regional Police Academy in Livonia for enrollment July 18–Nov. 13, 2025; training costs of $6,813 plus $1,250 for uniform/books will be paid from the police training account and reimbursed through the MCOLES Public Safety Academy assistance program.
The Lincoln Park City Council on June 23 authorized the Police Department to send cadet Chadrick Stanfield to the Wayne County Regional Police Academy in Livonia from July 18 through Nov. 13, 2025.
Police Chief Reavis told the council the academy cost is $6,813 with an additional $1,250 for uniforms and books. He said funds will come from the police training account (101305960) and be reimbursed by the MCOLES Public Safety Academy assistance program. Chief Reavis said the department is one officer short, has had hiring challenges, and that Stanfield, a cadet since March, agreed to sign an agreement to remain with the department for at least two years after graduation or repay the training cost.
Council approved the resolution by roll-call vote; Councilpersons Zohr, Dupree, Baer, Nichols, Ross, Salcedo and Mayor Tobin voted yes.
