The New Rochelle Planning Board approved an administrative amendment on June 20 to modify an existing parking structure at 40 Memorial Highway and add 80 municipal parking spaces.
Staff said the amendment requires finishing items with the buildings commissioner and will add 80 public spaces at an existing lot to address downtown parking demand. Board members requested that the new capacity be promoted through the city’s social media channels and that wayfinding and signage (including signage off South Division and Memorial Highway) be included as part of a parking management plan so drivers know the garage is available. Staff said a parking management plan is being developed and will incorporate promotion and signage.
The administrative amendment passed by unanimous voice vote. The board approved the amendment and directed staff to include the project in broader parking-management work and to add signage to encourage greater use of the facility.
