Economic development staff told the council Pleasant Grove has been accepted into the Utah Main Street program and will hold a kickoff meeting with the state on July 2. Daniel, who will lead the effort, said monthly meetings will follow and that an RFP for a downtown consultant is expected to be issued by the end of the week.
Daniel and City Administrator Scott said the Main Street program is a separate track from an independent downtown consultant effort funded through other sources; staff expects the two tracks to be coordinated over time but will initially run separate meetings and deliverables.
Daniel said the program requirements and representation expectations will be provided by the state at the July 2 kickoff. He told the council that he will inform members once the state provides guidance on council representation and other requirements.
No formal action was taken; this was an informational staff update.
