Commission approves VFW beer garden license for Moffat County Balloon Festival

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners approved a special events liquor license on June 24 allowing Samuel Hevanga Jr. VFW Post 4265 to operate a beer garden at the Moffat County Balloon Festival scheduled for Aug. 2, 2025 at Laudie Simpson.
Moffat County Clerk and Recorder Stacy Morgan presented the application and said notice for the special events liquor license had been posted at least 10 days prior to the hearing in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes §45-5-106. "We're here to request your approval for a liquor license for their annual balloon festival out at Laudie Simpson on August 2," Morgan said.
Applicants Randy Looper and Debbie McLean attended the hearing. The board opened the public hearing and heard no testimony for or against the request. The chair abstained from the vote because the chair is a member of the Balloon Festival Committee; the remaining commissioners moved, seconded and approved the license by voice vote.
