Moffat County approves $3.83 million design contract for proposed event center

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners on June 24 approved a $3,825,848 contract with CH Johnson Consulting to provide architectural and engineering design services for a proposed county event center.
Candice Miller of the Office of Development Services told the board CH Johnson had been selected through an earlier formal RFP and that the county could continue working with the firm into subsequent project phases. "CH Johnson was originally selected to the formal RFP process, to complete the initial feasibility study, for the event center," Miller said.
Miller said the design and engineering contract is funded in part by two OJT grants totaling $2,000,000; she also referenced additional funding from a U.S. Treasury LACTF source and county funds but the transcript of the meeting was unclear about the precise split for those amounts. She said roughly $1,331,417 beyond the design contract is budgeted for geotechnical investigations and other necessary development work.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval of the contract during the June 24 meeting. The motion carried on an affirmative voice vote.
Miller said county staff are arranging for CH Johnson to be on site the week of July 14 to advance the next phase of work.
The board did not identify a contract number during the meeting. The county staff presentation and the unanimous vote concluded the item with no public opposition recorded in the meeting transcript.
